Frequently Asked Questions, and Their Answers

Before you jump into anything, it can be nice to have a little more info! We've tried to think of the most common questions people might have, and then given their answers below!

At Lake Region, we believe that you should come as you are, with a spirit ready to worship God. However, it is greatly appreciated and encouraged to wear modest, non distracting clothing.
We usually have a time of music during our worship service, but no one is required to do anything that would make them uncomfortable, including sing, dance, lift their hands up, or step out into the aisle. However, we welcome any or all of those ways of expressing joy in worshiping Jesus!
Pastor Jesse Swiers preaches straight out of the Bible every Sunday, but if you would like to get more info, you can contact him at 218-849-2536.
Our greater church affiliation is with the Mennonite Brethren organization and we adhere to their doctrinal statement and confession of faith. However, our local congregation has more of a community church feel, with high-tech audio-visual systems, as well as having a mix of new contemporary songs, and traditional hymns.
During the school year, we have typically have a prayer service for that Sunday's service at 9:00 am, followed by Sunday School starting at 9:30am for all ages. Our typical service time starts at 10:30 and ends between 12:00 and 12:15. During the summer we often have breakfast and fellowship instead of Sunday School and start our service at 10:15 with a time of worship, followed by our usual service. We occasionally have outdoor services or special services, so please contact us for more information!
Sunday School is open for all ages, and we have different classes that your children will be split up into, depending on age and grade. During the worship time, there is an unstaffed nursery and playroom available where parents can take their children and still listen to the service, however parents with small children are encouraged and welcome to stay and participate in the service. Sometimes it can get a little noisy, but we love to have the children with us!
While we believe that the Bible teaches we should give a tithe, or 10%, of our earnings to God's service, we do not expect or require any sort of gift or offering. Should you feel led to, there will be a time when you can give.
We are located east of Detroit Lakes on Highway 34, just past Four Corners. Our exact location is 35502 State Highway 34, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota 56501. If you would like to mail something, please send it to 35250 Camp Cherith Road, Frazee, Minnesota 56544, and we will get it to the church.
